While many families will enjoy Easter egg hunts and surprises from the Easter bunny Sunday, thousands of Northwest Arkansans will have nowhere to go.

The 26th annual M&N Agustine Foundation easter feed is one of the largest free meal events in the region, providing meals to an average of 6,5000 locals on Easter weekend.

Meals were provided to everyone from the homeless, elderly, unemployed, and those who aren’t able to get out this weekend like inmates, nursing home patients and families in shelters.

Notable volunteers at the event included Northwest Arkansas dignitaries and business leaders like Washington County Judge Joseph Wood, Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder, and Arkansas Representative Steve Womack.

Some volunteers say they have been helping for years since the easter feed was founded over 25 years ago.

One volunteer says it’s one of her family’s favorite Easter traditions knowing thousands will not go hungry during the holiday weekend.

“I mean it totally fills your heart with love and joy to be able to share in this special day with them and to see them with their smiles and knowing that they’re going to get a good meal today. It’s just a very humbling day,” Says Sharon Busteed, Easter Feed volunteer

Kids in attendance also got to pick out their own Easter baskets completely free of charge. Dozens of other baskets were also given to women’s shelters in the area.
