The Arizona Cardinals signed safety Travell Dixon on Monday and waived injured safety Jonathan Owens.

Dixon played for the Panthers in 2016 for one game in Week 17 under then-defensive coordinator and new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks after spending the first 16 weeks on the team’s practice squad.

Dixon was injured in August of 2017 and was released a week after being placed on injured reserve.

A JUCO transfer from Eastern Arizona in Thatcher, Dixon first transferred to Alabama to play for Nick Saban. Despite Saban expressing interest in a big role for Dixon, he would quickly transfer because of personal reasons.

Dixon would then redshirt in 2012 for Washington and spend his last two seasons there. Dixon went undrafted and then signed with the Oakland Raiders on 2015 but was waived two weeks later.

Owens was an undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western.
