Veronica Mars is “definitely not a little girl anymore,” according to Hulu programming chief Craig Erwich. Fans of the show, known as “marshmallows,” will be pleased to hear that the show is “definitely an update.”
“I think on Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas, who is the steward of the franchise, has really thread the needle from what I’ve read of the show and the scripts are excellent, is very true to the character and the world and the tone of the show, which is what made people fall in love with the show — but it is definitely an update,” Erwich said Monday at TCA. “She is not a little girl anymore. You’ll see her dealing with contemporary issues in a contemporary world.”
The show, which returns on Hulu later this year, will see Kristin Bell joined by the likes of J.K Simmons alongside stars who previously featured in the series including Percy Daggs III, Daran Norris, Jason Dohring, Dawnn Lewis, Patton Oswalt, Enrico Colantoni, Izabela Vidovic, Clifton Collins Jr and David Starzyk.
Veronica Mars ran for three seasons on UPN and the CW from 2004-2007.
