COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Vice President Joe Biden is set to deliver the commencement speech at the University of South Carolina next month, according to university officials.

Biden will deliver the address during commencement exercises on May 9.

The vice president will also receive an honorary degree of doctor of public administration during the event.

The speech will add fuel to speculation that Biden is considering a run for president in 2016. South Carolina, of course, is one of the early primary states.

Many candidates often come to South Carolina early to establish a network of support ahead of the primaries.

On the GOP side, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal will address the state Republican Party during the Silver Elephant Dinner on June 6.

Jindal is also pondering a run for the Republican nomination for president in 2016.
