Songs to not overlook: Jah-N-I, DPR and Eric Lilljequist

Victor D. Infante, TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF

It's a busy week, but here are a few songs by bands playing locally that you might have otherwise overlooked.

•"Eye of the Storm," by Jah-N-I•"Circumstance," by Danny Pease and the Regulators

•"Smiling River," by Eric Lilljequist and Dean Adrien: If you're looking for something a little folkier, you need only look to Eric Lilljequist, who will be performing with his fellow Orphans band mate Dean Adrien and bassist Steve Abdu on Nov. 9 at Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley. "Smiling River" is a beautiful, soulful song with gorgeous guitar work, a song that really catches the depth a musician like Lilljequist can bring. This is gentle music, but it has a weight to it.

There are a number of other good shows around the region, too, including the punky Kun Fu Grip Nov. 9 at Ralph's, and African dance favorites Koliba the same day at Beatnik's.
