The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation department wants to thank the many community champions that have come together to kick off the beautification project along the Canyon Lakes Trail System. The dedication ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 18 at 3 p.m. at Mae Simmons Park, near Oak Avenue and Canyon Lake Drive.

“This is the beginning of an ongoing effort to beautify north and east Lubbock” said Councilwoman Shelia Patterson Harris. “We are confident this project will continue to grow annually with the help and involvement of the community”, she concluded.

A total of twenty-two trees have been selected to be initially planted. Many of the trees are native to Texas and are resilient in harsh environmental conditions.
