Molalla woman killed in icy one-car crash; son in critical condition

MOLALLA -- A Molalla woman was killed and her teen-aged son was critically injured today in a one-car crash northwest of Molalla.

Names of the victims are not yet available. The 15-year-old boy was rushed to OHSU Hospital, where he is treated for severe neck and back pain.

Chief Vince Stafford said a car was traveling west on South Barnards Road west of Cramer Road at 7:26 a.m., when it skidded on the ice, slide sideways out of control and then hit a tree.

The woman, who was driving, was killed instantly.

Detective Jim Strovink, Clackamas County sheriff's spokesman, said

Crash Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians are investigating the accident.
