Local fire chief, another killed in separate wrecks

DORCHESTER, S.C. (WCIV) -- It was a deadly night on Lowcountry roads.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says wrecks in two counties ended with fatalities including a Summerville firefighter.

The first deadly wreck occurred along Coffin Point Road near Cee Cee Road in Beaufort County just before 11:30 p.m. Monday. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.{} The victim in that crash has been identified as 24-year-old Andres Ramirez Diaz.

The second deadly crash happened in Dorchester County on Wire Road near Pine Bluff Road and took the life of an area fire chief.

Officials with the department confirmed to ABC News 4 that they lost one of their own overnight. On Tuesday morning Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said the deceased was 23-year-old Cattle Creek Fire Department Chief Ross T. Reeves of Reevesville.

A spokesperson for the Highway Patrol says Reeves' truck ran off the road. The Ford F-150 hit some trees and overturned. Reeves was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
