Kendra Foley Earns GLIAC Honor

After placing fifth at the season opening Spartan Invitational this past Friday, Grand Valley State's Kendra Foley was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

Foley, a sophomore from Noblesville, Indiana, placed fifth at the 2014 version of the Spartan Invite – hosted by Michigan State University – and more than held her own against the combined field of Division I and Division II runners in East Lansing. Foley led the No. 1 women's team in the nation as the Lakers placed four runners in the Top 15 of the 6k race, with teammate Jessica Janecke finishing closely behind her.

Foley and the Lakers cross country teams return to action next Saturday in Minnesota when they travel to Minneapolis to race in the Rory Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
