Jennifer Lawrence leads the long list of celebrities who are paying tribute to David Letterman in more ways than one.
The "Hunger Games" star posted a photo of herself with a sign that read, "Don't do this! No one is sick of you it's all in your head." She added the following caption, , "Thanks Dave Late Show with David Letterman."
The late show host bid his television program goodbye after more than three decades on the air, and several stars sent a message of appreciation to the iconic TV host.
The list included Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Kimmel, Bette Midler, Jimmy Fallon, Jessica Chastain, Lena Dunham, Seth Meyers, Zooey Deschanel, Sia, Harry Connick Jr., Mindy Kaling and everybody else who appreciated Letterman's presence on late night TV.
Many of these celebrities posted photos of themselves when they made a guest appearance on the show.
'My last HA HA with Dave tonight. #ThanksDave,' Oprah tweeted with a photo of herself as Letterman's guest.
Others paid tribute to him by expressing special messages on their own show. Jimmy Kimmel teared up while sharing how Dave was so influential in his life. "I watched the show every night and never missed it, and little did I know that many years and many pounds later, that watching the show was a great education for me," Kimmel shared.
"I learned almost nothing in college," the continued. " I really didn't. But watching 'Late Night,' not only did I learn how to do everything from Dave, the reason I have this show is because the executives at ABC saw me when I was a guest on Dave's show and hired me to host this show."
"I want to thank Dave and his writers and his producers," he added.
The last week of his show, Letterman had several celebrities as his final guests. George Clooney, Bill Murray Lena Dunham, Al Pacino made a guest appearance to bid him farewell.
On his final night on air, a crowd gathered in front of the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York, holding photos of the host. "The Late Show With David Letterman" first aired in 1982, and its last show aired on May 20, 2015.
