The wrong voting machines were delivered to polling places in Westchester County, New York, a suburb of New York City, early Tuesday morning, according to a local media reports.
Briarcliff High School and Valhalla Methodist Church in Briarcliff Manor New York both received incorrect voting machines, the Journal News reported. The error forced election officials to require voters to vote by affidavit, the paper said.
The correct machines arrived by 8.30 a.m, Tajian Nelson, who works for the Westchester County Board of Elections, told the paper. She said the machines were not programmed for the district where they arrived.
A handful of races in New York could have a big impact on the national picture. Incumbent Sen. Kristen Gillibrand is fighting off a challenge from Chele Farley, a Republican. Also, Gov. Andrew Cuomo is seeking a third term and his heavily favored over Marc Molinaro, Republican.
