Djarum Owner Still Named as the Richest Indonesian by Globe Asia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two brothers owned Djarum Group Robert Hartono, 77, and Michael Hartono, 78, are ranked in the first place of 150 Richest Indonesians by Globe Asia magazine, June 2018. The wealth reached the US $21 billion, increased from last year at the US $18 billion.
Robert and Michael are entrepreneurs, known for their cigarette and banking industry. As quoted from Globe Asia, the revenue and profit from their banking business increased to 30 percent last year.
Their stakes in Bank Central Asia also rose from Rp18,000 to Rp22,000. "The cigarette business, the initial foundation of their wealth, is also healthy," wrote Globe Asia.
As a result, they are the largest shareholders in BCA. Through the company Farindo Holding Ltd., they controlled 51 percent of the stake.
In addition, both have 65,000-hectare oil palm plantations in West Kalimantan since 2008. They also control a number of properties, including Grand Indonesia and electronics companies.
Forbes magazine on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, also named Robert and Michael as the richest people in Indonesia.
Following Robert and Michael is Eka Tjipta Widjaja. The 94-year-old man is the boss of Sinar Mas Group with wealth reached the US $13.9 billion.
The third position of 150 Richest Indonesian by Globe Asia is taken by Antoni Salim, 69. The president of First Pacifik, also known as the owner of Indofood Group, has a wealth of US $11.5 billion.
