Nebraska Wesleyan (0-1) at Illinois College (0-1), England Stadium, Jacksonville, Illinois, 1 p.m.: Both offenses will be looking for their first touchdown of the season. NWU was held to 195 yards of total offense in a 28-3 loss at Concordia (Moorhead, Minnesota) last Saturday, the least production in two years with Jonathan Curti at quarterback. Illinois College was shut out by Rhodes 21-0, a game in which the Bluejays had minus-17 yards rushing and 151 total yards. Illinois College quarterback Drew Chance threw for 2,562 yards and 20 TDs last season. The Bluejays have an all-conference performer on each side of the ball — Zach Heren at left tackle and defensive end Logan West.
Buena Vista (1-0) at Concordia (0-0), Bulldog Stadium, Seward, 1 p.m.: Buena Vista, coached by former Doane and Hastings assistant Grant Mollring, defeated Hamline 39-27 in its opener behind quarterback Cole Miller’s 282 yards passing and a career-high five touchdowns. Sophomore wide receiver Eric Pacheco caught eight passes for 242 yards and three scores. Concordia will need to try to play keep-away and control the ball with running back Ryan Durdon, who rushed for 1,247 yards and eight TDs last season.
