Alaska, Kansas and Minnesota tied for the 10th safest state in the country. Alaska requires higher levels of liability insurance, while Kansas and Minnesota require additional personal injury protection and uninsured motorist protection.9. South Carolina: Underinsured medical and property damage coverage is required. The percentage of uninsured drivers is 7.7 percent.T-7. Massachusetts and Oregon tied for seventh safest state in the country. Massachusetts has the lowest rate of uninsured drivers at 3.9 percent. Oregon requires personal injury and underinsured coverage.6. Utah: Just under 6 percent of Utah's drivers are uninsured.T-4. New Hampshire and Maryland tied for fourth safest state in the country. Both states require additional insurance on top of the minimum liability insurance requirements.3. New York: New York has the third lowest rate of uninsured drivers at 5.3 percent. Nearly 20 percent of Alabama's drivers are uninsured.46. Tennessee: Other than liability insurance, no other additional coverage is required. The uninsured driver rate is 20.1 percent.T-47. California and Mississippi are tied for 47th. Neither state requires additional coverage other than liability insurance.49. New Mexico: New Mexico requires no additional coverage other than liability and 21.6 percent of drivers are uninsured.50. Top 10 safest states for drivers:

T-10. Alaska, Kansas and Minnesota tied for the 10th safest state in the country. Alaska requires higher levels of liability insurance, while Kansas and Minnesota require additional personal injury protection and uninsured motorist protection.

10 Riskiest States For Drivers:
