Nearly a century ago, a notorious gangster was arrested right here in the Tri-State.Most everyone knows of the infamous, murderous duo Bonnie & Clyde.Clyde Barrow and his companion, Bonnie Parker, were shot to death by officers in Louisiana in 1934 after what the FBI calls "one of the most colorful and spectacular manhunts the nation had seen."They are widely known for their stunning life of crime, which the FBI believes involved 13 murders as well as several robberies and burglaries.Read more about their story on the FBI's websiteBonnie wasn't a part of the equation when Clyde made an appearance in Middletown, Ohio.Exactly 89 years ago, Clyde was caught there after escaping jail in Waco, Texas. He was with two others who had all escaped a week prior.An old article posted by Middletown police says the three had attended a movie and then committed a robbery that day. While officers investigated the robbery, officers spotted their car and a chase ensued.At one point, Clyde jumped ship, stole another vehicle, drove it in between two houses and ran again before officers finally caught up to him.If you visit Middletown police's lobby, you can see his jail record and photograph in person.
