Greenwich Gourmet Market Is Coming To The West Village

WEST VILLAGE, NY — A Brooklyn-based market will open a new digs in the West Village next summer, per Lee & Associates NYC, which negotiated the lease.

A vacant corner at 378 Sixth Ave. between Waverly Place and West Eighth Street will be transformed into the Greenwich Gourmet Market.

The market will takeover an 8,200-square-foot space on the lower level and ground floor next to a Starbucks on the block.

Previously, the corner was a Duane Reade that has been closed since at least 2017.

The owner of Greenwich Gourmet Market also owns Tashkent Supermarket in Brighton Beach.

"Located right off Washington Square Park and in close proximity to the many residents of the Village, Greenwich Gourmet Market couldn't be better positioned to succeed," Mark Kapnick, executive vice president of Lee & Associates said in a statement. "The store will offer a wide variety of gourmet prepared foods in addition to more traditional grocery items, making it a neighborhood go-to."

The market is expected to open June 2020. The lease is 21 years and the asking rent was $200 per square foot, per Lee & Associates.
