For Kurt Warner, the selection process this year for entry in the Pro Football Hall of Fame is "crazy," because it involves a guy named Kurt Warner.

Warner, the former quarterback for the Cardinals, Giants and Rams, is in his first year of eligibility. He is one of 26 semifinalists and will find out Thursday evening if he made it to the final 15.

The finalists will be announced on the NFL Network beginning at 7 p.m.

Those 15 people will be among those considered by the selection committee when it meets Jan. 31, the Saturday before Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale. The committee can put no more than five modern-day candidates into the Hall of Fame.

"I consider the whole process crazy, for me," Warner said. "Just being a guy who wasn't supposed to be here to be considered ... . This is all gravy."

Warner's is among the best stories in NFL history. He went from the Arena Football League to NFL Europe and finally the NFL. In his career, he helped two losing franchises, the Rams and Cardinals, make it to the Super Bowl.

Warner played in three Super Bowls, winning one with the Rams, and was twice named league MVP.
