Crystal Lake Teacher Among Eight Men Arrested in Prostitution Sting

The teacher at Crystal Lake South High School was charged with solicitation of a sexual act.

Brian Akers, 46, of Woodstock, was one of eight men arrested Tuesday when trying to purchase sex at an undisclosed hotel, the Rockford Register Star is reporting.

Also arrested were William G. Clelland IV, 29, of Kingston; Gordon Douglas, 47, of Roscoe; Tyrell R. Garrett, 22, of Rockford; Joseph A. Korotasz, Jr., 23, of Loves Park; Santiago Sanchez, 36, of Chicago; Daniel A. Velez, 33, of Rockford; and Jeffrey J. Zintl, 52, of Marengo. Zintl was additionally charged with resisting arrest, the story stated.

District 155 spokesman Jeff Puma told the Northwest Herald that Akers has been placed on paid administrative leave while the district investigates the incident.

The arrests were part of a “reverse” prostitution sting in which police placed a fake ad to which Akers is believed to have responded.
