Ashlee Simpson has tried practically every hair color that occurs in nature: blonde, black, brown, auburn, and variations thereof. But it seems the singer was ready to try something a little more whimsical — something pastel yet perfect for fall. And with the help of Nine Zero One salon's Riawna Capri, she just debuted what the stylist is calling "pumpkin pink."

Of course, like hair, pumpkins aren't known to naturally come in shades of pink, but Capri envisioned "pumpkin pink" as what's essentially an autumnal take on rose gold. "Ashlee looks amazing in all shades of reds and coppers," Capri said in an email to Allure. "It's no surprise that she looks absolutely incredible with this smoky shade of rose."

And she really does. Photos shared with Allure show Simpson with an ever-so-subtle ombré that starts more dirty-blonde at the roots and gently shifts to a warm, soft pink that lets Simpson's base color peek through. And in the photo Capri shared on Instagram, Simpson is absolutely beaming over the new shade.

In the caption of that Instagram post, Capri shared how to get the look — granted you're already starting with "a lovely shade of bright blonde." She used a mixture of three Joico Color Intensity Semi-Permanent Creme Colors: Rose Gold, Bronze, and Blush. She diluted that with conditioner, applied it to Simpson's dry hair, let sit for 20 minutes, and voilà: pumpkin pink.

"To keep her hair strong, healthy, and nourished, Ashlee got In Common's new Crystal Cashmere System. It's an amazing in salon treatment that nourishes and strengthens hair to keep it healthy, shiny and beautiful," Capri explained. But if you can't stop by the salon, you can purchase one of In Common's several at-home systems to help keep your color-treated hair in its best possible condition.
