Scotland's papers: Obesity warning and 'Loch Mess Monsters'

The Scotsman's front page leads with a call from health experts to crack down on junk food promotions. It says the move is "urgently needed" to combat Scotland's record as one of the world's most obese nations.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are filming their new motoring show at Loch Ness, according to The Scottish Sun, which features a photograph of a "boat explosion" on their front page. It said their day in the Highlands included a "bust-up with a cruise boss and a graffiti spree at a chippy in Fort Augustus".

A large photograph of the former Rangers owner Charles Green dominates the front page of The Daily Record. It says the image shows him talking to a "mysterious Arab" in Dubai.

Two young girls and a man are in hospital after their car crashed off a north-east road and landed upside down in a burn, according to The Press and Journal.

The Herald's front page says Nicola Sturgeon has accused the UK government of "arrogance". She said it is increasing the likelihood of Scottish independence after it ruled out a "bespoke" deal for Scotland on Brexit.

There is a similar theme in The National, which reports that the first minister said Philip Hammond's "arrogant dismissal of Scotland's EU options is not acceptable".

Meanwhile The Scottish Daily Mail leads with a warning from the Attorney General to judges over the Brexit vote.

Public health officials have called on the UK government to impose a minimum price for alcohol, according to The i newspaper.

And The Daily Express leads with calls for Len Goodman to stay on as a judge with Strictly Come Dancing. He is due to stand down at the end of this series, after 12 years with the show.

The Courier reports that tourism agency VisitScotland is under fire for spending £20,000 on flying 21 people and their partners to St Andrews for the weekend as part of a campaign to promote the town.
