Angus & Julia Stone have expanded their 2018 Australian tour

Posted

Angus & Julia Stone's Aussie adventure just got a whole lot bigger.

The siblings are hitting the road and playing capital cities behind their triple j featured fourth album Snow this April and May, featuring Hottest 100-charting songs 'Chateau' (#3) and 'Snow' (#98).

Well, now they've expanded the tour to the rest of Australia, taking in dates through regional Queensland, the NT, Tasmania, NSW, VIC, and Fremantle.

Update: A second Sydney show has been added to the run, taking place at the Enmore Theatre after the duo's Hordern Pavilion show sold out three months ahead of the tour.

Speaking to triple j Breakfast, Julia Stone says she and her brother are having a ball being back playing shows. "We get to see more of Australia and it’s pretty incredible," she tells Ben and Liam. "When we go up to Townsville and Cairns area, we always have a couple days either side so we can go and visit the Mossman Gorge and see things. It’s a nice way to tour.”

Joining Angus & Julia for these shows will be Angie McMahon, a recent Unearthed Feature Artist who's been earning rave reviews with the captivating guitar-and-lyrical-charm offensive that is 'Slow Mover'. Her debut single burst into the Hottest 100 at #33.

As well as discussing her Stranger Things fandom (S2 star Dacre Montgomery features in A&J's video for 'Chateau'), Julia also cleared up the rumours about Angus living in a tent. He doesn't -- technically, it's a yurt.

"He made this little Scandinavian hut that is his living space and then the yurt became this incredible hang out room with musical instruments, couches, and a pool table [and] for years was where he lived – in the yurt.”

Perched on top of a hill, Julia likes to sleep there when she's visiting and gives the yurt a pretty great AirBnB style review.

"One of the loveliest things about it is the cows in the morning, they come up and lick the outside of the yurt because they get all the moisture off it. So you wake up to this strange noise of these cows licking all the way around the yurt, it’s a little bit creepy."

The twosome also spoke to Richard Kingsmill about the making of Snow, which was influenced by everything from Switzerland and bossa nova to The Moldy Peaches and the passing of their grandfather. (Listen to their chat here.)
