Every year, with help from Nojaims Brothers Supermarket, the Police Benevolent Association gives away nearly 300 Christmas meal baskets to anyone in need.

This year could be very different. After decades in business, Nojaims in Syracuse is set to close.

The PBA tells NewsChannel 9 the locally owned supermarket donated food and  a lot of space to make sure the Christmas baskets could be filled. So, without Nojaims there could be no more baskets.

The PBA says they are hoping the community and local politicians will step in to help bring Nojaims back in time for the holidays but for now, they have no backup plan.

It’s likely they won’t be able to find the supplies or space in time to make the meal baskets that so many people depend on.
