    Loretta Brundage

Loretta Brundage, 87, of Unionville, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 19, 2018, after a year-long battle with cancer and kidney failure.

Loretta Jeanne Templeton was born in the West Liberty area of Putnam County on May 10, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Lillian (Fitzwater) Templeton, who preceded her in death. She attended rural schools in Putnam County and was active in 4-H Club and member of the high school basketball team, graduating from Unionville High School in 1949. On April 9, 1950, Loretta married George Oakley Brundage in Unionville, MO, and together they raised four children, with Loretta helping George run the family farm, working part-time at Midway Store and being active in her community and church. Loretta and George enjoyed many years on the farm together until George passed away in 2015, shortly after he and Loretta celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Loretta’s family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, hardly ever missing a game. She loved to have fun--always ready to play dominoes or other games, stop at the Dairy Lane, and watch the Royals on TV. She lived a life focused on others, and loved giving away home-grown fruit and vegetables, cooking food for her family and sending cards to family and friends.

Loretta accepted Christ as her Savior at a tent revival at Midway in July, 1962 and was baptized soon afterward in the Templeton pond. Loretta’s life was centered around her faith and her family. She taught Sunday School, played the piano and served in the church for many years. Loretta’s Christian testimony, faithfulness and love for others, even in later years after her health and eyesight failed, made her a blessing and example to others.

Loretta is survived by her children and their spouses: Eddie and Pat Brundage of Unionville, MO; Jan and George Parry of Blue Springs, MO; Marty and Julie Brundage of Unionville, MO; and Janelle and Vince Jackson of Holt, MO, as well as 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. In addition, Loretta is survived by her brother, Guy Templeton and wife Carol, of Soddy Daisy, TN; brother-in-law, Finis Brundage of Mill Grove, MO; and sister-in-law, Anna Lee Blanchard of Lucerne, MO; and nieces and nephews that she loved very much.

Loretta was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Emily Brundage, and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Keith Brundage, Robert (Roylynn) Brundage, Mikkie Blanchard, Sue Brundage, and Mardell (Sammy) Valentine.

Memorials are suggested to the Midway Baptist Church or West Liberty Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
