Texas Legends News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS - The Texas Legends were once again fueled by New Orleans Pelicans assignee Frank Jackson, who led the team in scoring for the third of as many games with them. Jackson's 35 points and a career-night from Kostas Antetokounmpo fell short in fending off the Memphis Hustle (9-6) who closed out a tight game in the final minutes 134-125.
The two teams exchanged baskets throughout the first with hot shooting on both ends. Texas shot 54% while Memphis hit 71% and took a one-point advantage at the buzzer. The Legends opened the second with 10 unanswered points to take a nine-point lead, but Memphis responded with a 12-1 run to get the edge and the back-and-forth ensued. Jackson knocked down 6-of-7 for 17 points while the Hustle's Tyler Harvey was 3-of-3 outside for 13. The first half wrapped up with 20 lead changes and 11 ties and Memphis on top 70-66.
Jackson's hot streak continued in the third with a perfect 4-of-4 as he and Daryl Macon led the Legends to their first quarter win 28-27 to make it a three-point game. Down to the wire, the two teams were tied at 118-all with four minutes to play. Facing a one-point difference at the two minute mark, the Legends were unable to capitalize and Memphis went 6-of-6 at the free throw line to close out the visitors.
Jackson finished with 35 points, 3 assists while Macon added 23 points, 4 assists. Antetokounmpo and Ray Spalding added 21 points, 9 rebounds each, and Keith Hornsby tallied 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers.
Harvey powered the Hustle with 29 points, 4 assists while Ivan Rabb (25 points, 10 rebounds) and Kyle Casey (15 points, 10 rebounds) each added double-doubles.
The Legends will travel to Grand Rapids next to take on the Drive Wednesday at 6pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+.
