'It's always difficult and disheartening when someone you knew as a child, grows up and chooses a life of crime,' The statement read, according to Honolulu Star Advertiser. 'That is the case with Nicole Gillespie, who has been accused of robbing the Territorial Savings Bank on Bishop Street on Sept. 3.'

'We have not seen 'Nickie' in over 10 years,' they said. 'Watching her on CrimeStoppers left us all shocked and heartbroken.'

Gillespie allegedly handed a demand note to the teller and fled on foot after the incident.

Charges against Gillespie have not yet been filed, according to Hawaii News Now.

Dog, who stars in the reality show Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, has no blood relation to Gillespie, who reported no local address when she was arrested.

Like his stepdaughter, Dog himself has had at least one run-in with the law and has since been able to turn his life around.

In 1976, he was convicted of murder charges in Texas and was sentenced to five years in jail. He was granted parole after 18 months, according to Yahoo News

The popular reality star made headlines in 2007, too, after a recording of him using racial slurs circulated.

This year, however, he seems to be on the right side of the law, as he spent part of June helping police in upstate New York locate David Sweat and Richard Matt, who had escaped from a maximum-security prison.
