UPDATE 9:57 p.m.: Ardmore police say an officer patrolling the area heard the gunshot go off.

The officer found the woman, who had been shot under her chin, in the front yard of a home on the 500 block of D Street Southeast.

Police say the woman, a friend, and the suspect 26-year-old Anthony Miller were at the home in a detached garage when the gun went off.

Captain Keith Ingle says Miller had left the scene when officers arrived but later turned himself in after visiting a relative and telling them about the shooting.

Ingle says they are still investigating whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.

"We're not sure if it's because he intentionally shot her or whether it was an accidental shooting and he just got nervous and fled the scene," Ingle said.

Miller is currently booked in for possessing a firearm after a former felony conviction, but Ingle says more charges could be filed as their investigation continues.

ORIGINAL: Ardmore Police say a 26-year-old felon has been arrested for shooting a woman in the face Wednesday night, hours after another shooting in the Walmart parking lot that also left a person injured.

In a written statement Thursday morning police said they were called to the 500 block of D Street Southeast just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a woman with a gunshot wound to the chin.

The woman, who police did not identify, was airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital for treatment. The statement did not list her condition.

Police arrested Anthony Miller of Ardmore for possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

The statement read police are still investigating the shooting and that more charges could be filed depending on the outcome of the investigation.

Just after midnight Wednesday police were called to the Walmart parking lot, where a fight ended in another shooting that left one man injured.

Ardmore Police Detective Matt Miller said they are still investigating what led up to the fight, but that a group of people were involved and several shots were fired.

Miller said the man who was shot was taken to Mercy Hospital and later flown to an Oklahoma City hospital. His condition also remains unknown.

So far no arrests have been made in that shooting.

"It was late at night but we do know there were people there that were not involved in this, so if they did see something please do call us," Miller said.

Miller said they are also reviewing security footage from surrounding businesses for any other possible leads.
