A dog and a young moose have forged an unlikely friendship.

Wallagrass resident Shannon Lugdon and her dog, Leo, spotted the moose alone Sunday.

Assuming it's mother was nearby, wardens told Lugdon to not make contact with the young moose.

Leo the dog had other plans and befriended the moose who Lugdon named "Maggie".

Ludgon and her family promote outdoor adventures in northern Maine through summer camps and guided hunts at Lugdon Lodge on Eagle Lake, so she is familiar with wildlife.

She says the 27 pound moose followed them around all day.

Maggie the Moose has been relocated to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray.
