JOHNSSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A long-awaited rebuild of the Roxbury Park hockey rink could soon become a reality.
Johnstown City Council members Marie Mock and Sylvia King have been pushing for funding for the projected $90,000 project.
At Wednesday night's council meeting, they revealed the project was awarded an additional $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation after the total was matched by donors during their State of the City event last week. The Community Foundation previously gave $10,000 for the project.
They said that brings total funding for the project above the $75,000 mark.
Some of those repairs include a brand-new surface for the rink, which includes drainage improvements, making it possible for the rink to be used for ice hockey in the winter months, as well.
