LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Airline is discriminating against dogs

Sun, Jul 15, 2018 (2 a.m.)

“Pit bull type dogs” can no longer be used as service dogs or support animals on Delta Airlines flights.

This restriction runs counter to all available evidence. More and more evidence is pointing to the fact that pit bull terriers are no more dangerous than any other dog breed. In fact, taken as a percentage of the total canine population, their rate of aggression is normal, even slightly lower than average, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Pit bulls rank among the most tolerant dogs tested by the American Temperament Test Society. The National Canine Research Council reports: “There is no scientific evidence that one kind of a dog is more likely than another to injure a human being.”

Delta needs to check the facts. Discrimination is discrimination, be it a human or a dog.
