The late Paul Walker was honored during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, but his pal and “Fast and Furious” co-star Vin Diesel also shared an emotional tribute that wasn’t included in the telecast.

In a short acceptance speech recorded while Diesel was on location filming the seventh installment in the “Fast and Furious” franchise, the actor gave thanks for his and Walker’s best on-screen duo award.

“Back in 2002, it was you, the MTV audience, that first acknowledged this brotherhood between Paul Walker and myself by honoring us with the best team on film,” Diesel says in the video. “So it’s surreal to be standing here 12 years later and that you have been so generous to give us this award again.”

The actor said he wished he could have shared the win with Walker, who died in November when the Porsche he was riding in struck a light pole in Santa Clarita, Calif.

“I know he’s here in spirit,” Diesel said as he fought back tears. “Thank you for honoring me and, more importantly, thank you for honoring that angel – my brother Paul Walker.”
