Young Scots women left dumped in middle of nowhere for 20 HOURS with flat tyre after RAC ‘forgot’ about them

RAC have apologised after a Scots road recovery crew left two young women stranded at a bus stop for 20 HOURS - and "forgot" to come back.

They called for assistance but were informed crews would only be able to take them half way home.

RAC promised to send another crew to take them the remaining 60 miles.

After the pals were dropped at a bus stop in Pitlochry RAC informed them they had no other workers available to pick them up due to "unexpected demand".

Keeping in good spirits, the pair documented their hellish journey with smiling selfies, and even managed to track down a make shift meal - ham, crackers and Dairylea triangles.

Charlene posted a snap of the snacks saying: "Dinner! Man from shop let us borrow a knife"

After their calls to RAC went unanswered, Charlene and Hayley feared they may have to spend the night in the car.

Instead they made their way to Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry for a warm bed and breakfast.

Later that night Charlene posted on Facebook: "So After getting a flat tyre and calling the RAC at 3.30pm, and all the dramas, we are now in the Atholl palace hotel for the night.

"The RAC doesn’t have anyone to recover us, they still think were sitting in a bus stop in Pitlochry where we were dumped.

"Least we have each other tho"

The following morning Charlene said: "The RAC have called, now realised they left us in a bus stop last night...."

The two women finally got home yesterday around 11.30am - an eye-watering 20 hours after they should have originally arrived.

Charlene railed RAC on Twitter, saying the firm failed to answer their calls for help after being "dumped" overnight.

Charlene said online: "@TheRAC_UK thanks for dumping 2 girls in a bus stop last night, leaving us and only remembering this morning!

"Thanks to your manager not calling back like you said you would!

"You left us with a punctured tyre all night! Said someone was coming for us and nobody showed up!

"Nor did you answer the phones, after hours of calling! Only remembering this morning, you left 2 girls in a bus stop overnight! Disgusting"

The firm have since apologised and have offered to cover Charlene and Hayley's expenses.

A spokesperson from RAC said: We would like to apologise to Charlene and Hayley for their bad experience.

"One of our patrols tried to repair the vehicle for an hour and then we arranged for it to be recovered in stages.

"Unfortunately, we were unable to find a recovery vehicle for the second stage of the journey due to unexpected demand for our services.

"We are reimbursing their hotel expenses and making a gesture of goodwill payment to say sorry."
