Pacific Coast Highway reopened after rockslide blocked lanes in Orange County
The northbound and southbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway in Orange County were closed Friday morning by a rockslide. All lanes reopened around 10:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff's Department officer Jeff Hallock told KPCC.
Sheriff's officials say two large boulders and other debris fell into lanes just before 4 a.m. near the intersection of Dana Point Harbor Drive.
One of the giant rocks was estimated by deputies to be about 10 feet by 20 feet.
A one-mile stretch of the PCH was closed between Beach Road and Camino Capistrano in Dana Point, Hallock said. Hallock said the 5 Freeway could be used as an alternative route.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the length of the PCH that was closed.
