"Robocop" Remake Release Date, Rumors, and Trailer Stream

Fans of the 1980s action movie "Robocop" are in for a real treat when the rebooted version of the film hits theaters in February 2014. The "Robocop" trailer features an all-star cast consisting of Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Joel Kinnaman, and Gary Oldman. Joel Kinnaman will portray Alex Murphy, the cop who becomes Robocop. The cast includes some familiar faces that will bring a new, quirky personality to the "gritty reboot" genre. The trailer, which was first shown at Comic Con, hints at a satire of the American justice system and a commentary on the human element in modern warfare.

Other "Robocop" news involves the armor the hero wears. Robocop's new suit is subject to several changes from its 1980s version. Viewers will see the suit go from an airbrushed aluminum color to an all black finish in the remake.

"Robocop" is the latest movie to be selected in the string of Hollywood's 1980s reboots.  The release date is set for February of 2014. The script for the new "Robocop" movie follows the Hollywood standard for "gritty reboots" but is filled with promise. The original "Robocop" was the story of a cop named Alex Murphy who was turned into a cyborg by a corporation after being severely wounded.  Brazillian director Jose Padilha's biggest alteration to the original story is to leave Murphy's memories intact after he has been turned into Robocop instead of wiping them clean which creates a new direction for the script to take.
