Eutawville fatal shooting suspect captured in Connecticut

EUTAWVILLE, SC (WIS) - The suspect in a Eutawville fatal shooting has been captured.

Andrew Maxswane Evins, 23, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force and the Stratford Police Department in Stratford, CT on Tuesday morning.

Evins is a suspect in the homicide shooting death of Jervaughn McKins, 23, which occurred on August 12 in Eutawville, South Carolina. The U.S. Marshals in South Carolina were asked to assist by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department in locating Evins, who they believed had fled the area.

Officials discovered that Evins had fled to Connecticut. The Violent Fugitive Task Force found out that Evins was hiding out in the Stratford area.

He was located at the Rodeway Inn in Stratford and was taken into custody without incident.

U.S. Marshals from Connecticut were assisted by the Bridgeport Police Department, Norwalk Police Department and the Stratford Police Department.  Evins was turned over to the Bridgeport Police Department, where he will be charged as a Fugitive of Justice and will be held pending extradition to Orangeburg County, South Carolina.

Evins has two active state warrants for Murder and Possession of a Weapon out of South Carolina.
