Threat Causes Maryland High School To Evacuate

A threatening message caused students to evacuate Kent Island High School in Stevensville Tuesday, officials said.

STEVENSVILLE, MD — A threatening message caused students to evacuate Kent Island High School in Stevensville Tuesday, according to reports.

The Queen Anne County Sheriff's Office said a threatening message was discovered at the Main Campus at about 11 a.m.

The school was given an "all clear" shortly before 1 p.m. and allowed students to return for classes.

"We are now in the process of evacuating the main campus. In conjunction with the Sheriff's office we are going to complete a K-9 scan of our building," the school's principal said in a statement released by the Sheriff's Office.

"We are aware of the outside temperatures and will monitor our students carefully. I do not anticipate being outside past the point of comfort, although if we move from our campus to Safe Harbor you will be notified," the statement said.
