NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Concordia Texas men's golf team shot their best team score of the NCAA Preview, playing the final round of the tournament on Tuesday at the Keene Trace Golf Club.
The Tornados would shoot 302 as a team, turning in a three-round scorecard of 318-311-302 – 931 to place 17th overall at the NCAA Preview. Emory would win the tournament, followed by Wittenberg and Washington & Lee, respectively.
PJ Schmitz, the freshman out of Cedar Park, Texas, would sink a pair of birdies, recording the best round of the tournament for CTX, with an even-par score to finish with an 83-75-72 – 230 scoreboard, placing in a tie-for-45th.
Jake Zamora would also shoot his best round of the tournament, posting a 74 score for the round to finish 77-81-74 – 232 and tie for 55th overall.
Seger Howell, meanwhile, knocked in a pair of birdies and close out the final round with a score of 78, finishing in a tie-for-60th with a scorecard of 81-75-78 – 234.
Ben Balen and
Justin Skorheim each turned in scorecards of 78-82-80 – 240 and 82-80-78 – 240 to place in a tie-for-75th overall, respectively.
Next, the Tornados will compete in the Crusader Collegiate Invitational in Belton, Texas. The two-day tournament will get underway on Oct. 1.
