North Babylon Boy Scout Troop 399's 57th Eagle Scout

Michael Quinn of North Babylon's Troop 399 has become the Troop's 57th Eagle Scout!

Town of Babylon Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez and other special guests recently attended a Court of Honor ceremony to congratulate Michael Quinn on becoming an Eagle Scout. The Eagle Scout is the highest achievable rank in the Boy Scout organization.

His Eagle project was to donate Smile Bags for children at Cohen's Children's Center. Michael organized two fundraising events to collect the money needed to pack each bag with small gifts and activities for the children. The actual Smile bags were provided by The Amanda Styles Cirelli Foundation which was created in memory of Amanda, who passed away at the young age of 29 after her courageous battle with cancer. With help from members of his troop and the North Babylon community, he provided 30 bags and collected over $850 for the children

For his Eagle, Michael also earned 23 merit badges and held the positions of Guide and Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, the last position having assisted the adult leaders and where he brought leadership skills and gained experiences that will last a lifetime.

Troop 399 is a Boy Scout Troop based in North Babylon, NY and a member of the Sagtikos District of BSA’s Suffolk County Council. It is sponsored by the North Babylon Lions Club. Originally chartered in 1975, Troop 399 has been serving the community, turning boys into leaders and giving families the opportunity to participate in Scouting for 40 years.
