Why A Woman Claims Her Son Is Emotionally Unstable And Naïve

Sandy says her son, Dylan, “Absolutely lives in a fantasy world.” She claims he sees himself as a successful 22-year-old, when in reality, he lives at home, parties, plays video games all night, works only sporadically, is verbally abusive and refuses to help around the house.

TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Have family drama that needs that help?

“He’s happy doing exactly what he’s doing because he thinks that’s what all 22-year-old people do,” she says.

Describing her son as emotionally unstable and naïve, Sandy says Dylan is a college dropout who hangs out with teenagers, has totaled his car, and is on probation for possession of marijuana. She and her husband, Thomas, also say Dylan claimed he was once robbed and shot at with his own guns while showing them off at a party.

How does the couple respond when Dr. Phil asks whether they knew Dylan was in possession of firearms?
