Firefighters, helicopters and aerial tankers were at the scene Wednesday of a 25-acre brush fire southwest of Lake Mathews on Wednesday afternoon, with crews appearing to have gained the upper hand on the blaze.

The Silverton fire was reported at 1:24 p.m. and was being fought by firefighters from several agencies. The Corona Fire Department tweeted about 80 minutes after the fire started that its forward progress had been stopped.

There were no reports of injuries, evacuations, or structure damage.

The area of the fire appears to include only a few buildings, according to a Google Maps view of Cajalco Road and La Sierra Avenue, the crossroads that Cal Fire/Riverside County reported as near the fire.
