Laverne and No. 1-ranked Shattuck will be having a rematch of last year's Class B finals Thursday at Shattuck.

Shattuck beat Laverne, 30-16 in the state finals afte losing to the Tigers 44-42 earlier in a game that decided the B-1 championship.

The visiting Tigers have won six straight since a 60-30 opening game loss to Alex. Houston Bockelman and Gabriel Lovell both scored twice in a 50-0 rout of Turpin last week for the team's first shutout of the season.

The series is tied 15-15 since 1974 with Laverne having won five of the last six meetings.

11-man

Woodward (3-4, 2-2) at Carl Albert (7-0, 4-0) — Woodward is coming off a 70-0 win over Northwest Classen. It was the most points the Boomers have scored in a game since beating Elk City 70-21 in 2013 and its first shutout since blanking Elgin, 35-0 the same season. Carl Albert is ranked No. 1 in 5A having outscored opponents 243-69. The Titans have won the last 11 meetings with the Boomers last win coming in 1994, 38-9. Carl Albert leads the series 12-2.

Alva (6-1, 3-1) at OCS (4-3, 4-0) — First place is on line in District 2A-1. OCS has won four straight since opening the season 0-3. Alva is expected to be without quarterback Mitchell Meyer, who injured a knee in a 40-36 win over Luther last week. Freshman Kaden Slater led the Goldbugs to two scores in the final two minutes for the AHS win. The series is tied 4-4 with OCS having won the last four meetings.

Beaver (0-7, 0-4) at Fairview (4-3, 3-1) — Fairview is riding the momentum of back-to-back wins over Thomas (22-7) and Mooreland (34-7). The Yellowjackets control their own destiny for a home playoff berth. Beaver has lost 25 straight games since a 19-15 win over Stanton County (Kan.) on Sept. 2, 2016. Fairview leads the series 7-1 having won the last seven meetings. The Dusters' lone win came in 2010, 41-6.

Okeene (4-3, 2-2) at Texhoma (4-3, 2-2) — The loser could find itself out of the playoff chase in the extremely deep District A-1. Okeene has had a roller coaster season having lost two straight after a four-game winning streak. Texhoma is coming off wins over A-1 bottom feeders Mooreland, 33-0 and Beaver, 55-12. A Red Devil win sets up a meeting with Oklahoma Bible Academy next week with a possible playoff berth on the line. The visiting Whippets have won the last three meetings and lead the series 6-3 since 1997.

Mooreland (1-6, 0-4) at Thomas (4-3, 2-2) — The visiting Bearcats look to break a six-game losing streak. Mooreland has scored only five touchdowns during that slump. Thomas, the preseason No. 1 team in the Class A Associated Press poll, is coming off a 40-7 win over previously undefeated Oklahoma Bible Academy. The homestanding Terriers lead the series, 16-5, having won five of the last six meetings.

Crescent (3-4, 2-3) at Wellston (0-7, 0-5) — Crescent could be the best 3-4 team in the state with its losses coming to teams with a combined 27-3 record. Wellston forfeited to Crossings Christian last week. Their closest game this season was a 34-14 loss to Crooked Oak.

8-man

Balko (0-6, 0-4) at Sharon-Mutual (3-4, 2-2) — Sharon-Mutual's Alex Carter is coming off a career game in a 74-26 rout of Timberlake last week. He not only ran for 302 yards and six touchdowns, but threw touchdown passes of 38 and 36 yards to Braxton Pummell. That's bad news for a Balko team that has lost 13 straight games over the last two seasons. Sharon-Mutual has won the last three meetings, but Balko leads the series 22-16 since 1976.

Timberlake (2-5, 1-3) at Buffalo (7-0, 4-0) — New No. 1-ranked Buffalo broke Pond Creek-Hunter's 30-game regular season winning streak, 38-6 last week after breaking Tyrone's 24-game regular season winning streak the week before. The Bison, with a win, would be in the driver's seat for the C-1 championship, needing to beat either Balko or Sharon-Mutual in Week 9 or 10 to clinch the title. Timberlake tries to bounce back from the 74-26 loss to Sharon-Mutual. Buffalo beat Timberlake 76-50 last season to break a seven-game losing streak to the Tigers in the series. Timberlake leads the series, 8-2 with Buffalo's other win coming in 1995, 46-14.

Pond Creek-Hunter (6-1, 3-1) at Waynoka (3-4, 1-3) — The formerly No. 1-ranked Panthers look to bounce back from a regular season loss for the first time since a 54-48 loss to Seiling in Week 6 of the 2015 season. The loss dropped PC-H to No. 4 in the Class C poll. The Panthers were held to a season-low 96 yards rushing against Buffalo. They came into the game averaging 286.8 yards rushing per game. A Panther win would up a meeting with Tyrone next week with second place in the district and a home playoff berth on line. The Railroaders gave Tyrone a tough game before falling, 28-14 last week. First meeting between the two schools since 2003. The Panthers lead the series 7-2 since 1984, including a 36-15 win in 2003. Waynoka beat Pond Creek-Hunter, 46-12 in the 1996 state semifinals.

Medford (3-3, 2-1) at DCLA (1-6, 0-3) — Medford, with a win, can set up a meeting with Covington-Douglas next week with a higher playoff seed on line. DCLA is still mathematically alive for a playoff berth, but would need to win out (Coyle, Oct. 25 and Welch, Nov. 3). The Cardinals, idle last week, have won all three of their games by shutouts, including back-to-back wins over Welch, 54-0 and Bluejacket, 48-0. DCLA has lost six straight since opening the season with a 30-14 victory over Kremlin-Hillsdale. They have allowed 60, 65 and 62 points the past three weeks. They recorded their second highest offensive total of the season in the 62-26 loss to Bluejacket last week. Medford broke a seven-game losing streak in the series last season 48-0. The Cardinals lead the series, 23-12 since 1970.
