The San Francisco 49ers had a little bit of good news with their Thursday practice participation report. Tight end Vance McDonald returned to practice in limited fashion after missing Wednesday’s session. He suffered a hip injury in Week 3, which cost him the second half of the game.
McDonald and Celek are both banged up, but were both limited. Even if both can play, it will be interesting to see if Blake Bell gets a little extra work against the Cowboys. Through a season-plus, Bell’s work has come when players have been injured. He began a transition from quarterback to tight in his final year of college, so there is a lot of work to continue the transition.
Jimmie Ward remains sidelined with a quadricep injury, and we should not expect him to play this weekend. The Friday injury report will be worth checking, but I would not expect any changes with Ward’s status.
