Sustainable living: Learn how to be more like Buddha at a Co Clare midfulness and meditation summer school

"You spend most of your time in your mind — why not make it a nice place to be?"

Valerie O'Connor

You spend most of your time in your mind — why not make it a nice place to be? So say the folks at the Killaloe Meditation Centre, Co Clare, who are running a Mindfulness and Meditation Summer School this month.

The event runs from Monday, July 25 to Saturday, July 30, at the handy times of 10am to 1pm, and will include instruction in mindfulness meditation, the body scan and teachings from the Buddhist tradition.

The Centre is part of the Triratna Buddhist Community — a network of women and men from around the world who are engaged in the collective creation of Buddhist practice that is rooted in the Buddha’s teaching and example, yet relevant and effective in today’s world. It is based on community and friendship, making it a great way to meet a group of people. As the course is in-person, you get to ask questions and have discussions on different aspects of the teachings.

Loving-kindness meditation is a practice where you learn to send just that: loving kindness to yourself, others and the wider world — something that is needed now more than ever.

Meditation is a way of transforming the mind; it helps us to change how we relate to ourselves and those around us.

Priced at a suggested donation of €100, this summer school is accessible for many. This course is in-person only, and is suitable for beginners and seasoned meditators who may be looking to refresh their practice.
