Barclays appoints head of equities structuring for Asia-Pacific
Nicolas Reille will be based in Asia from late June, will be responsible for growing bank's equities structuring capabilities in region
The Asset 15 Apr 2019

Barclays has appointed Nicolas Reille as managing director and head of equities structuring for Asia-Pacific, it was announced on April 15.

Reille joins Barclays in London and will relocate to Asia in late June 2019 where he will be based permanently. In Asia, he will be responsible for growing the bank’s equities structuring capabilities in the region.

Reille brings over 20 years of financial services experience and has in-depth knowledge of the equity derivatives business in Asia. He joins from Natixis where he led its Asia-Pacific sales team for equity derivatives since 2014. Before that, he was head of Asia-Pacific sales and marketing for the global equity derivatives business for Société Générale.

Reille is also a founder of several tech platforms in Hong Kong such as eskapades.com.

This appointment follows a series of senior global equities structuring and regional leaders’ hires to help further advance the bank’s markets business. In the Asia-Pacific, Barclays appointed Jerry Koo as head of emerging markets rates trading for Asia-Pacific in March 2019 following the joining of Pritpal Gill who leads the G10 FX and FX Options Trading for Asia-Pacific earlier in the year.

Gaurav Malhotra also rejoined Barclays as head of eFX trading for Asia-Pacific alongside Matt Toms who took on the role of head of electronic and program trading for Asia-Pacific based in Hong Kong in February 2019 as the bank continues to maintain and advance its electronic execution-only services in cash equities.

Fabien Labouret, Barclays’ global head of equities structuring and Barclays Investment Managers comments, “This important hire demonstrates our investment in growth of the structuring business in the region. Nicolas brings extensive industry knowledge and local experience that will help grow our derivatives presence in Asia working closely with our derivatives sales and distribution teams.”

“Building on our existing financing and derivatives solutions, we continue to focus on strengthening our existing equities franchise in Asia-Pacific,” Mark Dearlove, Barclays’ head of markets for Asia-Pacific, says.

“Nicolas’ expertise will support the further enhancement and expansion of our equities structuring capabilities for our broader markets business as we continue to better serve our clients and invest for growth in the region,” says Dearlove.
