THE HISTORY of Abingdon's politics will be explored through the story of local Liberal politician John Creemer Clarke.
The 19th century businessman was an important benefactor of the town and helped found Trinity Church as well as the town's cottage hospital.
Retired history teacher Silvia Joinson will speak about how he reluctantly agreed to stand for election as MP, eventually representing the area from 1874 to 1885.
The event will take place on Tuesday from 2.30pm at Trinity Church, Conduit Road.
A donation of £3 is suggested.
