Following Jeremy Dutcher's win of the 2018 Polaris Music Prize earlier this year, the Canadian award has now revealed the 2018 Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize winners, including Rush, Alanis Morissette, Kid Koala and more.

As in years past, the winners were chosen from four shortlists — each representing a different musical era — and were curated by a Heritage Prize jury of music historians and music media.

Each era has two winners, with one voted by the public and another by the jury.

The full list of 2018 Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize can be found below.

Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize Winners:

1960-1975
Public: Neil Young – Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
Jury: Jean-Pierre Ferland – Jaune

1976 – 1985
Public: Rush –  2112
Jury: Bruce Cockburn – Stealing Fire

1986-1995
Public: Alanis Morissette – Jagged Little Pill
Jury: Dream Warriors – And Now the Legacy Begins

1996-2005
Public: Broken Social Scene – You Forgot It In People
Jury: Kid Koala – Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Both Rush and Neil Young have previously had other albums from their catalogue receive the Heritage Prize designation. In 2016, Young's After the Gold Rush won the public vote in the 1960-75 category, while Rush's Moving Pictures won the public vote in the 1976-1985 bracket.

A press release notes that titles did not get selected as winners will remain on the short lists for the 2019 Heritage Prize. Next year, the Heritage jury will add two additional records for each era.

As Polaris explains, "Records are selected for the Heritage Prize in accordance with existing Polaris criteria; to honour and reward artists who produce Canadian music albums of distinction without regard to musical genre or commercial popularity."
