Kingsport police investigating death of man found in Holston River

Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found along the Holston River in Sullivan County.

A fisherman contacted police at 6:15 p.m. Saturday after spotting the body near the Ridgefields subdivision in Kingsport, according to a Kingsport Police Department news release.

The body, believed to be that of an adult male, was taken to East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine for autopsy.

Authorities have yet to announce the victim's name or cause of death.
