Chelsea may sign a second former Arsenal player this summer after they contacted Barcelona to enquire about the availability of Alex Song, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

Jose Mourinho's men have already done business with Barcelona this summer, snapping up former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas from the Catalan giants.

Fabregas could have returned to Arsenal, if the Gunners had been prepared to activate their buy-back clause – but boss Arsene Wenger refused.

Song, who left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2012, is available for transfer this summer, having failed to establish himself at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona are thought to have slapped a €25m asking price on the Cameroon international, a sum well within reach for Chelsea.

Song has attracted interest from elsewhere however, seeing himself linked with two Serie A sides, as Inter and Napoli keep watch on proceedings.

There could also yet be an offer from a club in England other than Chelsea, as Manchester United have been credited with holding an interest in the former Arsenal defensive midfielder.
