“Mr Schiff is, in Bach, a phenomenon. He has quite simply internalized this music. He doesn’t so much perform it as emit, breathe it.” — The New York Times

Experience this great pianist’s monumental and mesmerizing interpretation of J.S. Bach’s iconic Goldberg Variations at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on Sunday, March 22 at 3:00pm. Originally written for harpsichord, they were first published in 1741 and are named after Johann Gottlieb Goldberg, who may have been the first performer of the work.

A couple of days later, Sir András turns his attention to Beethoven’s sonatas in this, the 250th anniversary year of the composer’s birth (Vancouver Playhouse, Tuesday, March 24 at 7:30pm).
