Meenakshisundaram ousted in quarterfinals in Florida Women's Amateur

Ramya Meenakshisundaram of Jacksonville reached the quarterfinals of the Florida Women’s Amateur on Saturday before losing 4 and 3 to Emmy Martin at the Ritz-Carlton Member’s Club in Bradenton.

Martin, from Odessa, Fla., is a former All-Big 12 player at Texas Christian. Meenakshisundaram is a rising junior at South Florida.

Earlier in the day, Meenakshisundaram advance with a 2 and 1 victory over Skylee Shin. Meenakshisundaram was 4-up through 13 holes at one point.

Two other area players lost in the round of 16.

Chloe Schiavone of Jacksonville, a rising senior at Bolles, fell to Kendall Griffin 5 and 3. Griffin, who will be a senior at LSU, is from Sebirng.

Kaitlyn Schroeder of Jacksonville, who is entering her freshman year at Providence lost to Meiy Yan 2 and 1. Yan, from Orlando, is enrolling at Harvard in the fall.
