I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! delivers highest ratings of the season for the finale - but Married At First Sight smashes the competition with Ines and Sam's affair storyline

Channel 10 executives will be breathing a sigh of relief after I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! delivered satisfactory ratings for Sunday night's season finale.

Around 894,000 viewers in the five capital cities tuned in to watch gossip reporter Richard Reid being crowned 'King of the Jungle' in a pre-recorded episode.

According to B&T magazine, these were I'm A Celebrity's best numbers of the season.

Despite pulling in decent numbers, I'm A Celebrity was unable to compete with Channel Nine's Married At First Sight.

The controversial social experiment was the most-watched program of the night, drawing a metro audience of 1.29 million.

Sunday's episode saw Matthew Bennett and Lauren Huntriss leave the show during an emotional commitment ceremony.

There was also a major development in Sam Ball and Ines Basic's affair storyline.

Both of them agreed to stay with their 'spouses' during the commitment ceremony so they could pursue an affair with each other.

Ines said during the show: 'Every time I look at [Sam], I just want to have sex with him. We'll definitely be hooking up.'

Meanwhile, Ines and Sam's partners - Bronson Norrish and Elizabeth Sobinoff - are seemingly oblivious to their attraction to each other.

Coming in second place on Sunday was Channel Seven's My Kitchen Rules, which drew 902,000 viewers in the five capital cities market.

The cooking competition featured plenty of drama, with one contestant being labelled 'trans' during a dinner table argument.

Shocking: 'It's not an insult!' Viewers slam MKR for describing 'trans' as an 'unforgivable word' during showdown between Lyn Ellbourn and Karolina Borkovic (pictured)
